Propranolol Decreases the Viability and Triggers Apoptosis in Hemangioblastoma Cells from Von Hippel-Lindau Patients

چکیده
Von Hippel-Lindau (VHL) disease is a rare type of oncological disease with an incidence of 1/36,000 individuals in the general population [1,2]. The most frequent tumors are hemangioblastomas (HB) of the central nervous system (CNS) and retina, as well as renal cell carcinoma [3,4]. In addition, pheochromocytomas, pancreatic neuroendocrine tumors, pancreatic serous cystoadenomas, endolymphatic sac tumors and papillary cystadenomas are associated with the disease. Moreover, rare allocations of hemangioblastoma growth have been described, such as liver, gastrointestinal tract and retroperitoneal peripheral sites [5-7].

Propranolol reduces viability and induces apoptosis in hemangioblastoma cells from von Hippel-Lindau patients
BACKGROUND Von Hippel-Lindau (VHL) disease is a rare oncological disease with an incidence of 1:36,000, and is characterized by the growth of different types of tumors: hemangioblastomas in the central nervous system (CNS) and retina, renal carcinoma, pheochromocytomas, pancreatic serous cystadenoma, and endolymphatic sac tumors. These tumors do not express VHL protein (pVHL). pVHL ubiquitinate...
متن کاملUnusual diagnosis of Von Hippel Lindau syndrome on PET/CT - Case report and brief review of literature
We report an unusual case of a young male with cerebellar hemangioblastoma treated previously for medullary carcinoma of thyroid, whose PET/CT scans revealed a constellation of findings that suggested the rare Von Hippel Lindau syndrome. The diagnosis was clinched by confirming the findings on whole body contrast enhanced computed tomography (CECT) and contrast enha...
متن کاملHuge pancreas helps diagnosis in von Hippel-Lindau disease.
We describe five patients diagnosed with von Hippel-Lindau disease who complained of abdominal distension, pain and discomfort for a long time. All patients underwent ultrasonography, CT scan and MRI, which showed huge pancreas filled with multiple cysts. Additionally, extrapancreatic findings such as cerebellar hemangioblastoma (3 patients), retinal hemangioblastoma (2), renal cell carcinoma (...
متن کاملSporadic Hemangioblastoma Arising from the Infundibulum.
Hemangioblastomas are rare vascular tumors most often found in the posterior fossa and cervical spinal cord and commonly associated with von Hippel-Lindau Disease. We report a case of sporadic hemangioblastoma in a patient without von Hippel-Lindau Disease. Imaging characteristics included a solid, suprasellar mass that was homogeneously enhancing. These findings most resembled a pituicytoma or...
متن کاملTumor derived vasculogenesis in von Hippel-Lindau disease-associated tumors
von Hippel-Lindau disease (VHL) patients develop highly vascular tumors, including central nervous system hemangioblastomas. It has been hypothesized that the vascular nature of these tumors is the product of reactive angiogenesis. However, recent data indicate that VHL-associated hemangioblastoma neoplastic cells originate from embryologically-arrested hemangioblasts capable of blood and endot...
